Multi-story office buildings must have adequate lighting levels in place before a single person can step foot in the lobby. In these high-rises, designing a cost-effective lighting plan can be difficult, often requiring the procurement of thousands of fixtures to stay within code. Why not save a little money on your fixture schedule by installing a couple dozen UFO-RP1 500-lumen emergency ballasts?
Instead buying emergency lights that require their own dedicated circuits, utilize the existing fluorescent fixtures in your lighting plan as backup units! Dual Lites emergency ballasts utilize nickel cadmium batteries that will keep a single T8, T10 or T12 tube running long after AC power in the building fails. They're compact, lightweight and can even be ordered with an optional battery warmer for AC-controlled computer rooms and walk-in freezers.
The UFO-RP1 can be placed inside a fixtures ballast channel that has a minimum internal height of 1.15" and will work in tandem with the normal AC ballast. When electricity is flowing properly, this emergency fluorescent ballast will remain off, in charging mode. This transformer can also be used to retrofit an existing emergency fluorescent unit with 14-54 watt lamps.
Each fixture rigged with a UFO-RP1 will lay an impressive 500 lumens of floor coverage, providing up to 6 feet of adequate emergency illumination on either side of the light source. A battery heater can be purchased that allows for installation in cold climates as low as -4° F!
This fluorescent lamp emergency battery pack has an unfinished cast aluminum case that weighs in at less than 2 lbs. It has a reduced profile with two mounting feet on either end that fits most standard 2 or 4 foot luminaries. The ballast also includes an LED charging indicator that can be installed to the body of the fixture for routine battery testing, per UL guidelines.
Dual Lites fluorescent emergency ballast includes a Nickel Cadmium battery that remains in charging mode when the AC current is flowing. Once power is interrupted, end-of-lamp-life circuits will delay the battery for 3 seconds to prevent false tripping and save bulb life. It will operate a single 2 foot or 4 foot T8, T10 or T12 lamp between 14-54W and is ideal for office buildings with 120 or 277 line voltages.
